Although Europe largely consists of developed nations, it’s important to remember some of these nations are still affected by poverty. More than one in five Europeans experience poverty, and research shows Albania, Bosnia, Kosovo, and North Macedonia – the four European countries IRUSA works in – are among the poorest nations.
IRUSA’s first humanitarian response was to the Bosnian war in 1995, where we provided vital emergency aid such as food and water and helped rebuild homes, schools, and places of worship. Now, 30 years later, we continue to deliver life-saving aid across four European countries including Albania, Bosnia, Kosovo, and North Macedonia.
