“With the holy fasting month of Ramadan upon us, Islamic Relief USA, a nonprofit humanitarian and advocacy organization, distributed food boxes to residents in the Biloxi area.

Food insecurity has increased significantly since the COVID-19 pandemic took hold more than a year ago. To help ease the burden, Islamic Relief USA distributed around 250 boxes of food.

Each box was filled with non-perishable food items which included tuna, flour, macaroni noodles, and more.

Each box also included toiletry items and five masks to help keep everyone safe during these times.  Board Member Ricky Foster said, “This is our community. Everyone grew up around here. If we don’t look out for ourselves who is going to look out for us? It is our duty as members of the community to give what we can back to the community to make the community stronger.”

The leftover boxes of food were stored at the Islamic Center in case anyone in the community is in need.”
