Islamic Relief USA hosted a meal pack at the Islamic Center of Greater Cincinnati in West Chester on Sunday, to combat food insecurity.
Volunteers packed Ramadan meal bags that included beans and vitamins to help provide a nutritious meal.
“All the volunteers in this room are fasting and it’s like the later half of the day so they’re starting to get hungry, and so they’re packing meals for people that are also hungry,” said Wsmah Siddiqui, volunteer engagement specialist. “It’s giving them hope and it’s giving them brighter futures and it’s incredible what everyone’s doing here today.”
Organizers said their goal was to pack 30,000 bags to send overseas to populations in need.
Ramadan lasts through April 20.”
