Focus on Sudan

Sudan is facing what the UN describes as the world’s largest humanitarian and displacement crisis. Following years of political instability and the outbreak of major conflict in April 2023, the country’s socioeconomic fabric has been pushed to the brink of collapse.

Current Challenges

Mass DisplacementOver 12 million people have been uprooted, making it the world’s largest internal displacement crisis.

FamineFamine conditions have been identified in parts of Darfur and Kordofan as food supplies collapse.
Healthcare on the BrinkMore than one-third of health facilities are non-functional. Ongoing conflict has led to outbreaks of cholera, malaria, and measles.
Extreme PovertyApproximately 80% of the population lives in poverty, with unemployment projected to surpass 45%.
