“MARAWI CITY, Mar. 29 (PIA)–To provide economic livelihood opportunities and assistance to 100 resilient women heads of families, international development and humanitarian organization, Islamic Relief Philippines in coordination with the Task Force Bangon Marawi (TFBM) launched the Sustaining Women Economic Empowerment Project (SWEEP) here Friday, March 26.

Sittie Jamairah Disomimba, Islamic Relief Philippines Lanao area programme manager, said SWEEP is a one-year project funded by Islamic Relief USA that addresses concerns of women-headed households in terms of self-skills and training.

“When we launched the three projects, we first coordinated with the office of the TFBM and it was through evaluation and discussion with the Raheemah Peace Weavers that we came up with the 100 women-headed households as beneficiaries,” shared Disomimba.

During the launching, TFBM Field Office Manager Asec. Felix J. Castro Jr. reiterated the importance of working hard and giving value to the livelihood projects given to uplift their lives and of their families.

“Ito ay isang magandang opportunity na kayo ay matulungan pero meron kaming hihilingin sa inyo, hindi naman magiging successful yan kung hindi niyo mamahalin ang mga naibigay sa inyo at hindi kayo magtitiyaga. Walang negosyo na lumalago on its own,'” he added.

Islamic Relief Philippines is a non-government organization based in the United Kingdom that seeks to contribute to the realization of the Sustainable Development Goals and in empowering communities and reducing the impact of conflicts and nature-based disasters through its three major projects.
