ALEXANDRIA, VA – Islamic Relief USA (IRUSA) has released the following statement:
The harrowing scenes from Rafah overnight are like images from an apocalyptic nightmare.
Islamic Relief is horrified at reports that dozens of civilians were massacred as they sought safety, food and shelter, including children who burned to death in their tents. These families have been ordered from their homes multiple times, starved of humanitarian aid, and now bombed. Yet again it is clear that there is nowhere safe for people in Gaza to go.
This atrocity comes just 48 hours after the ICJ ruling that Israel must halt its attack on Rafah. International governments must use all their influence and leverage to ensure this ruling is upheld. Israel’s attack on Rafah must stop, there must be an immediate ceasefire, and sufficient aid must be allowed in.
