IRUSA, UNHRD Strengthen Global Disaster Response Capacity

Panama City, March 28, 2026 – Islamic Relief USA (IRUSA), in collaboration with the United Nations Humanitarian Response Depot (UNHRD) and national governments, is enhancing regional disaster management capacity by prepositioning critical humanitarian aid supplies worldwide.

Under this initiative, IRUSA is strategically positioning relief items at three key UNHRD hubs located in Panama City, Kuala Lumpur, and Brindisi. The move aims to ensure rapid and efficient delivery of emergency supplies in the event of natural disasters and humanitarian crises.

Araif Yusuff, Chief Operating Officer of IRUSA, emphasized the importance of preparedness:

“The prepositioning of essential relief supplies enables us and the wider humanitarian community to respond quickly and efficiently when time is most critical,” he said.

The program forms part of IRUSA’s broader strategy to strengthen international disaster response mechanisms. In addition to logistics support, the organization is investing in training and capacity-building initiatives for a network of local partners across 40 disaster-prone countries.

This collaborative effort underscores a growing global focus on proactive disaster preparedness and coordinated humanitarian action.
