WHAT: In honor of the humanitarian work done by former President Jimmy Carter, who died on Dec. 29, 2024, at the age of 100, Islamic Relief USA (IRUSA), a nonprofit humanitarian and advocacy organization, will hold a meal pack event on Thursday, Jan. 9.
On that day and at this event, the world community will pay tribute to his breathtaking legacy, one that was marked by courage, moral conviction, and compassion.
“President Jimmy Carter has long been known as having had one of the most successful post-presidency lives, and it’s clear why,” said Ahmed Shehata, Chief Executive Officer of Islamic Relief USA. “His dedication to improving global health, world peace, instilling strong character, and promoting human rights and democracy are all testaments to his tremendous impact as a human diplomat. IRUSA pays tribute to him and his character through our meal pack service project on Jan. 9. We call on all people to participate in giving back to their communities, just as President Carter would have.”
Volunteers will pack 15,000 non-perishable meals. The meals will go to families in need in the local community.
