With the fasting month of Ramadan approaching, Islamic Relief USA will distribute food boxes to vulnerable populations in the Tulsa metro area.

This is a nonprofit humanitarian and advocacy organization.

Food insecurity has increased dramatically since the COVID-19 pandemic.

To help ease this burden, IRUSA is expected to distribute boxes of food that will benefit many individuals.

Boxes will include rice, dates, cooking oil, flour, pasta, and other items.

The distribution will take place Sunday, April 2 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Khan Ohana Foundation located at 4823 South Sheridan Road, Suite 309.

Recent data according to IRUSA, shows that 34 million Americans reported that they did not have enough food to eat each week.

“The month of Ramadan is an opportunity for Muslims across the world to increase giving and empathy. It is a time to remember our neighbors who are struggling and have found themselves in vulnerable circumstances,” said Sharif Aly, chief executive officer of IRUSA. “We are pleased to be collaborating with community-based organizations to provide assistance during this holy month.”

In addition to the Ramadan food distribution, the organization will have other distributions at OSU-IT, TCC Metro, Community Care College, ICTC-Muskogee, and Rogers State University.”
