Alexandria, Va. – Islamic Relief USA, a nonprofit humanitarian and advocacy organization based in Northern Virginia, was recently elected to the Board of Directors of the National Volunteer Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD).
On the board, the organization will be represented by Araif Yusuff, manager of IRUSA’s Disaster Response Team.
“This is a wonderful honor. We have long appreciated the support and guidance NVOAD and the VOAD movement has provided to Islamic Relief USA over the years. As a member of the board, I will work to endure that all of our member organizations have the resources to effectively respond during disasters, mitigate if not eliminate suffering, and rebuild with more strength and resilience to ward off future disasters.”
Over the years, NVOAD’s guidance has enabled Islamic Relief USA to respond to the needs of people who’ve suffered property damage or emotional distress. Volunteers for the organization have responded to wildfires in California, hurricanes in Texas and North Carolina, and a mass shooting in Florida, among other locations.
Mr. Yusuff’s term will last three years.
