Alexandria, Va.  – Islamic Relief USA, a nonprofit humanitarian and advocacy organization, issued the following statement regarding the Biden administration’s recent announcement of increasing the refugee cap.

“Islamic Relief USA is pleased with President Joe Biden’s declaration to increase the refugee admissions cap from 15,000 to 62,500. This number is far more reflective of America’s generous spirit and past practices of welcoming some of the most vulnerable populations around the globe who are valiantly seeking safe haven and protection. IRUSA has seen firsthand the detrimental effects on people’s livelihoods when they are unable to access safer environments and adequate resources. We look forward to working with the administration to find ways to alleviate refugees’ suffering, strengthen economies to prevent mass population exoduses, and increase global stability.”
