“ What A Relief Podcast ” 87: 2016 Promise for Palestine with Said Durrah #FlashbackEpisode

“ What A Relief Podcast ” 87: 2016 Promise for Palestine with Said Durrah #FlashbackEpisodeOn this episode of the What a Relief Podcast B.C. Dodge & R. Mordant Mahon talk to IRUSA’s National Volunteer Coordinator Said Durrah about the 2016 Promise for Palestine tour with Mohammed Assaf.

This was the first time this tour had been done – it was repeated in 2017, and insha’Allah, we can make it happen again in 2018 (you know, making it an annual thing) – and it featured Palestinian singer and Arab Idol winner, Mohammed Assaf, and American Civil Rights Activist, Linda Sarsour.

In this comedy-filled episode the crew tried something a little different, for the first time they had live callers on the air playing trivia to get tickets to attend the Promise for Palestine tour. People wanted tickets so badly to this tour that one caller argued that they had been on hold the longest, so they simply deserved the tickets for that. But if you wanted Durrah to hand out tickets freely for this tour you better know facts like what the most famous ice cream location in Ramallah.

Durrah ends the episode with a reminder of why it is important to remember the people of Palestine, and support our work there.

“Promise for Palestine came about because Palestine has been suffering for a long time,” he said. “It may be Islamic Relief USA’s longest running emergency… the people over there just need a little bit of hope. The promise for Palestine, is your promise to help the people of Palestine”

And in case you didn’t know… Islamic Relief has been providing humanitarian relief in Palestine since 1994, and Islamic Relief Palestine opened its office there in 1998 so that long-term development projects could be implemented and overseen by people in the field.

For decades, the IRUSA legacy in the country has grown to help hundreds of thousands of people every year, with programs that provide livelihood support for farmers, help vulnerable children, and more.
