Laylatul Qadr

“Laylat al-Qadr is better than a thousand months.”

(Quran 93:7)

What is Laylat al-Qadr ?

Laylat al-Qadr, or the Night of Power, is the holiest night in the Islamic calendar. It commemorates the revelation of the first verses of the Qur’an to the Prophet (SAW). While the exact night is unknown, Laylat al-Qadr is thought to be on the 27th night of Ramadan, during the last 10 days. This year, the 27th night would fall on either Wednesday, March 26, or Thursday, March 27.

What is the significance?

Laylat al-Qadr is important to Muslims due to its increased reward. Performing acts of worship, such as nafl (voluntary) prayers, Sadaqah (charity), and dua’a (prayer), can earn you bountiful rewards. When performed on The Night of Power, the rewards could be exceptional. Giving Zakat (almsgiving) or Sadaqah during Ramadan is multiplied by 70 times, and the reward for any righteous act on Laylat al-Qadr is equivalent to having performed that same deed every day for 1,000 months or 83 years, subhanAllah!
