Fidelity Charitable | How to help: Turkey earthquakes

“On February 6, a massive 7.8-magnitude earthquake—followed by a series of major aftershocks that included a quake with a magnitude of 7.5—struck southern Turkey, causing widespread damage and loss of life. The earthquakes have killed thousands of people and left thousands more injured, missing, and displaced across Turkey and in neighboring Syria. The extensive collapse of homes, businesses, schools, and infrastructure—along with power outages, freezing winter weather, and strained medical centers—make it likely that the humanitarian crisis will continue to grow. Rescue and relief efforts are underway to help those affected by one of the most devastating earthquakes to affect the region in the last century. Immediate needs include medical attention, food and water, shelter, and emergency supplies.

How to help

Fidelity Charitable has worked in collaboration with the Center for Disaster Philanthropy to provide the following list of organizations that are offering relief for people affected by the earthquakes. These organizations are highlighted because they have knowledge of the region, the ability to manage a large influx of donations, and an established record in disaster relief services. Fidelity Charitable will update its guidance as additional information is received.
