“What A Relief Podcast” 75: Who Makes This Stuff? – Our Live Chat with a Relief Manufacturing Giant

What a Relief Podcast 75: Who makes this stuff?: Our live chat with a relief manufacturing giant.B.C. Dodge & R. Mordant Mahon talk to Kevin Peach from NRS International in this episode of “What a Relief!” — IRUSA’s official podcast.

We’re back live from the Interaction Forum of 2017 in Washington, D.C. at the Walter Reed Convention Center, where B.C. and Mordant are spending quality time with game-changers in the relief world! This episode we sit down with Interaction Veteran Kevin Peach, Business Development Coordinator for NRS International, to get a sneak peek into the manufacturing side of relief work. Kevin discusses his multi-sector experience and the growing multitude of ways he’s used his background to support all actors. NRS International represents a sector of companies who’ve dedicated all or a portion of their production to creating products that lighten the load that humanitarian work brings.

To put the company’s impact into perspective globally,120 million people across 63 countries used their equipment just last year. 68 million products were supplied to emergency situations and its largest presence was felt in Sub-Saharan African along with Northwest South America. In 2014, NRS International won the Aid Innovation Challenge Award after introducing the world’s first ever retardant tents and tarpaulins. Accompanying NRS international is the Bilqees Sarwar Foundation which serves public health and education disparities in Pakistan.

Time is critical to everything existing in the world. For people undergoing to strife of disaster/emergency situations time becomes much for than something to keep track of leisurely. Improvement in processes that lead to a 5% decrease in time spent literally saves thousands of lives. Peach is convicted about reducing errors in the field that are avoidable by furthered collaboration among NGO partners. He describes serving in three sectors of emergency relief as an asset that pushes him to see where gaps could be filled in service. The Partnership for Humanity is one initiative he believes deeply in, that will alleviate at the minimum, logistical pitfalls. “Not one entity can be effective in a response. You need the private sector, the government sector, and NGO sector” Peach said.
