A statement on inclusivity with regard to a recent podcast: bit.ly/2Kd968b
Shaykh Nasser has gained an incredible following through his humor and frankness on his twitter account. As a Shaykh, he is always questions, even right out of seminary. When someone asked him question he responded with frankness and humor, and it resonated with people.
“People just need to be told things that are very practical.” Nasser said. And in this manner, his twitter following grew to over 40,000, simply because his answers to people’s questions were simple and relatable.
Once B.C. is done talking about Twitter and what started the Shaykh to post the way he does, the discussion turns spiritual as they explore the month of Ramadan.
Shaykh Nasser reminds the audience that God introduces the month of Ramadan as a month of the Qur’an.
“It’s a month where Muslims celebrate the greatest blessing that Allah has bestowed upon us, the Qur’an.”
During Ramadan, Muslims fast from dawn to dusk from food and drink. But Ramadan is more than just refraining from food. Muslims fast to develop discipline
“The bedrock of spirituality is discipline,” Nasser said, and the second part of fasting is to develop God consciousness.
The Shaykh also says that during the month of Ramadan, “Allah is reminding us of our potential.”
Shaykh ends his Ramadan talk with a few simple tips for Ramadan:
• Set a plan for yourself
• Pray on time – even if you have to put alarms on your phone
• Dedicate time to recite the holy Qur’an
• Donate to charity
B.C. Dodge ends the conversation with Shaykh Nasser with a very controversial question: “What is the best biryani,” which the Shaykh answered by saying… you will have to listen to find out!
