“What a Relief” podcast 2: Laura McAdams Talks Syrian Refugees, Education and Europe.

Listen to Laura’s full interview on this episode of “What a Relief”, IRUSA’s official podcast.

On this episode of “What a Relief!”, international programs coordinator at Islamic Relief USA Laura McAdams discusses field operations i.e. your dollars hard at work.

She’s responsible for the Middle East, North Africa, and Eastern Europe regions. That includes the current Europe refugee response. She joined the IR family back in June 2015, and she’s been an active field operative for a better world since.

Laura has a background in educational development, so programs that help children with education are near to her heart. One of her favorite programs at IRUSA is a formal education program in Lebanon that is getting young Syrian refugees there back in school. It’s also providing psychosocial support to those children to help them overcome the traumas they’ve experienced during violent conflict and in their journey away from that violence.

“Had that program not be implemented,” she said. “Those kids would have been out of school and that’s just one small project to address a huge problem in the region. So many children in Lebanon, Syria itself, Jordan, Turkey have been out of school now for several years.”

“What a Relief!” is the official podcast of Islamic Relief USA. Co-hosted by social media specialist B.C. Dodge, and Mordant Mahon, IRUSA’s “What a Relief” puts a human face on what’s going on in the world and how you can enact positive change in it. New episodes every week!
