On 9/11 Anniversary, U.S. Faith-Based Charity Honors Muslim Volunteers and Supporters for Contributions to the U.S. and the World

(Washington, D.C., 9/11/2012) Islamic Relief USA (IRUSA), a relief and development organization based in the D.C. metro area honors its tens of thousands of volunteers and supporters who have contributed their time and resources since 9/11 to help provide relief and development in the U.S. and throughout the world, particularly in countries like Pakistan, Somalia, and Afghanistan.

In the U.S., IRUSA has invested millions in social service programs from California to New Jersey to help lift Americans out of poverty.  Through partnership with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, IRUSA has funded a summer feeding program for children of low-income households.  Many of these children rely on school for their meals.

IRUSA has also partnered with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Capital Area Asset Builders and other local groups to deliver valuable financial literacy education and savings-match programs to help lift Americans out of poverty.

In California, along with local partners, IRUSA supports ongoing programs that helps provide access to quality health care for low-income individuals.

Partnering with other faith-based organizations like the Latter-Day Saint Charities, IRUSA has provided disaster relief in places like Haiti, New Orleans, and Somalia.

“On this tragic anniversary, we recognize that communities can come together and provide hope where there is despair,”  said CEO of IRUSA.

IRUSA has helped to provide support in developing countries like Pakistan by helping to re-build villages devastated by floods and by providing livelihood programs in Afghanistan.

“As an American charity, we aim to not only provide relief and development, but to help build bridges between the US and the Muslim World,”  said Ayoub.
