(Washington, D.C., 3/28/2012) Islamic Relief USA (IRUSA), a relief and development organization based in the D.C. metro area, announced today its spring banquet, an evening to raise awareness about the water crisis across Africa, advocating change to help give Africa clean water.

Among other faith-based organizations such Catholic Relief Services, American Jewish World Service, Islamic Relief USA supported the United States Agency of International Development’s FWD (Famine, War, and Drought) campaign-an initiative to educate Americans about the crisis and to encourage more people to donate to provide relief.

The Islamic Relief family collectively delivered assistance to more than one million people in Somalia, Ethiopia and Kenya by providing food and supplemental nutrition, water and water treatment items, medicine and health care services, emergency seed packs, nutrition and health care for livestock, fixed water wells, latrines, hygiene kits, cooking and other household items.

Islamic Relief USA, based in Alexandria, Va., is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) humanitarian organization with eight consecutive 4-star ratings from Charity Navigator.
