ALEXANDRIA, Va. – Islamic Relief USA (IRUSA), a nonprofit humanitarian and advocacy organization, issued the following statement regarding today’s development of Israel’s ground invasion into Lebanon. Chief Executive Officer Ahmed Shehata issued the following statement:
“IRUSA is deeply alarmed and concerned about Israel’s recent ground invasion into Lebanon. This disturbing escalation of violence will only create new, and exacerbate existing, humanitarian challenges that the region is already experiencing. We call on the international community to demand a ceasefire to prevent further casualties and destruction in this tragic conflict.”
