WASHINGTON, DC – Islamic Relief USA (IRUSA) has joined as one of the sponsor of the One Journey Festival.
The One Journey Festival is being held on the lawn of the Washington National Cathedral on June 29. This diverse, multicultural celebration is free and open to the public – and showcases the talents and tenacity of refugees and other displaced people through music, dance, art, storytelling, technology, food, and entrepreneurship.
At the event, Islamic Relief USA hopes to raise awareness about the refugee crisis. In addition, it hopes to further its mission to provide humanitarian relief and development, empowering individuals in their communities and give them a voice in the world.
“We are proud to support the One Journey Festival and its unique role in countering misconceptions about the refugee crisis and highlighting the vast contributions made by refugees in their local communities and across the country,” said Sharif Aly, CEO of Islamic Relief USA. “As an international humanitarian organization, assisting refugees and displaced persons is core to our mission and the opportunity to manifest our commitment through such an innovative and engaging initiative is truly gratifying.”
In addition to its sponsorship, Islamic Relief USA’s innovative IRUSA bus is coming to the One Journey Festival. Inside the bus, which was created for the organization’s 25th anniversary in 2018, festival-goers can experience a multimedia tour led by trained IRUSA representatives. The tour includes captivating video displays and outstanding artwork that showcases IRUSA’s 25-year history.
“We are delighted to have won the confidence and sponsorship of Islamic Relief USA,” notes One Journey co-founder Vanda Berninger. “Nonprofits and corporations alike increasingly recognize the One journey Festival as a high-visibility platform for celebrating the contributions of refugees and sharing their organization’s commitment to welcoming and assisting refugees. We applaud out sponsor’s generosity and understanding that celebration is a gateway to compassion and engagement.”

One Journey is a grassroots alliance working to counter anti-refugee sentiment by shifting the narrative about refugees worldwide. We fight hate and fear by celebrating the talents and contributions of newcomers, reminding America of its own immigrant roots, and connecting the public to organizations on the front lines of actively supporting refugees. We strive to build enduring allies for refugees and use cultural and technological tools to facilitate human connections between refugees and their host communities. #1journeyfestival @1journeyfest
