Islamic Relief USA will be teaming up with American Third Pillar Charities on Tuesday, Nov. 22, to give Thanksgiving turkeys-along with all the fixings- to 1,000 low-income families in Washington, D.C.
The distribution event will be conducted in Ward 7 alongside D.C. Council-member Yvette Alexander’s annual turkey giveaway.
“This is my third year participating in the thanksgiving meal donation,” said B.C. Dodge, U.S. Military Veteran and New Media Specialist at Islamic Relief USA. “It is important to participate in programs of this nature because hunger can’t read a calendar and poverty knows no faith. As Muslims, we are taught to help those who have less. The Prophet Muhammad said, ‘None of you [truly] believes until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself.’ ”
