January 18 2016- Islamic Relief USA has committed to sending 100,000 bottles of water for over 3,500 families to be distributed to people in the affected areas of Flint beginning this coming weekend. Islamic Relief USA DRT Disaster Relief Team members will be mobilized to assist with these efforts.
This is not the first time Islamic Relief USA has assisted with getting water to the people of Michigan. In 2015 Islamic Relief responded to the water shuts off in Detroit with a $100,000 grant divided between the Detroit Water Fund in partnership with United Way of Southeastern Michigan and Wayne Metro Community Council.
Also in 2014 Islamic Relief USA DRT team assisted with clean up after the heavy rains and flooding in Detroit.
