Focus on Health

Global health inequity is an unfortunate and harsh reality. Nearly 3.5 billion people, almost half the world’s population, lack access to the health services they need. Around 70% of health outcomes are due to social determinants of health such as access to food, education, proper housing, and livelihood. The difference in life expectancy between high and low income countries is 19 years.

Islamic Relief’s Dedication to Health Programs

Islamic Relief is dedicated to helping vulnerable communities build better, healthier lives for themselves and for generations to come.

A few of our interventions include:

  • Provision of a mobile clinic for Syrian refugees and host communities alike in Jordan
  • Contributing to reduced prevalence of global acute malnutrition in Niger
  • Access to primary healthcare including psychosocial support, especially for women and children, in Palestine
  • Provision of primary healthcare for internally displaced people and their host communities in Somalia

For Mama: IRUSA United for Mothers and Babies

In 2023, a coalition of US and UK faith-inspired philanthropies and donors, including Islamic Relief USA, launched the For Mama campaign to raise awareness for the plight of vulnerable mothers and children around the world who lack proper access to healthcare and nutrition. In countries including Afghanistan, Yemen, Niger, and Palestine, IRUSA continues to support programs that help build capacity at local health centers that in turn provide women with the care they deserve. This Ramadan, we invite you to learn more and take action at irusa.org/formama.
