Islamic Relief USA worked in Benin to provide education to adults to combat unemployment in the region. The education workshops focused on character and teacher development in conjunction with enhancing communication skills, teamwork, self-management, and community service. Upon graduation, the students qualify for jobs that serve the economic and social betterment of their communities.
Educational programs in Benin have since come to a close.
Islamic Relief USA partnered with humanitarian organizations like World Vision and Catholic Relief Services in the Central African Republic to restore livelihoods for many through local economic development. Projects in the CAR hoped to address obstacles to peace like food insecurity and limited livelihood opportunities.
IRUSA has also provided psychosocial support and education to internally displaced children, along with emergency food assistance to vulnerable communities, and is currently working on a COVID-19 vaccination program.

Along with these efforts, IRUSA worked to increase survivors’ access to tangible support services. IRUSA continues to work with Episcopal Relief & Development for humanitarian interventions.
Islamic Relief USA worked to combat drought in Madagascar brought on by El Nino, and to provide school-aged children with improved nutritional statuses and increased clean water and sanitation access. These efforts helped increase the presence of children in school.

These efforts helped increase the presence of children in school. Mozambique was also among the hardest-hit countries by Cyclone Idai—and into 2020, Islamic Relief is still helping survivors.
