Focus on Malawi
Malawi is one of the poorest countries in the world. The economy is heavily dependent on agriculture, employing over 80% of the population. However, climate-induced natural disasters such as droughts and floods continually ravage the country and have led to major food insecurity.
Islamic Relief’s Dedication to Malawi
Islamic Relief has been in Malawi since 2006. Since then, our focus has been on long-term development assistance to help pull vulnerable communities out of the cycle of poverty.
A few of our interventions include:
- Access to healthcare and water
- Sustainable livelihood support for vulnerable communities
- Orphan care
- Emergency aid for natural disasters such as floods and cyclones including food aid and non-food items
