Islamic Relief USA, San Diego’s “Day of Dignity” was one of several similar events that have been held across the country to reach out to the indigent and lower-income households in need of services and the staples of everyday living.
National partner, Islamic Relief USA, said past events have inspired volunteers to establish service programs and organizations that aid communities year-round, said spokesman Minhaj Hassan.
Hot meals, hair cuts and health service were just some of the resources Lexington's homeless community was able to utilize during the city's first "Day of Dignity."

Lexington’s Muslim community is holding it’s first-ever “Day of Dignity” Saturday. The event, to be held at Douglas Park off Georgetown Street will take place from 9:00 in the morning until 4:00 in the afternoon.
The first-ever Bay County Day of Dignity, scheduled Sept. 9, will provide numerous items and services for the locally struggling. There will be free lunches, health services such as HIV and blood sugar testing, clothing and haircuts, among other amenities, and trolley passes and bicycles will also be raffled off.
