“We used to live in a warm house,” Alia told Islamic Relief. “Alhamdulillah, we were happy and grateful to God. However, our lives changed completely after the crisis. It has become a nightmare. We used to eat three meals a day, and now we can’t afford bread.”
Alia is a mother of six who fled Syria seeking refuge from the crisis that destroyed her hometown of Homs. Her last memories of her home are of holding her children in her arms while the sound of bombs filled the air.
Her husband refused to leave, and so she fled to Jordan as a single mother trying to protect her children.
The winters are the hardest time, but Islamic Relief donors have brought her family comfort. They received blankets, a heater, clothing, and hygiene care.
“You have made my children smile again. May God bless you and reward you.”
