BURBANK, California (January 7, 2005) – Over 2,000 people are expected to
attend an emergency benefit dinner to help the victims of the tsunami
disaster. The event is being organized by the Southern California Muslim
community, and funds will be collected by Burbank-based charity Islamic
Relief USA.
Among the speakers will be local and national Muslim leaders, as well as the
Consul Generals of Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Malaysia. Also speaking
will be Elder Randall Huff from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints,
which partnered with Islamic Relief USA in sending a cargo plane filled with
emergency aid for tsunami victims in Indonesia on January 1, 2004.
