“The [RYSE] campaign, led by United Way of the Roanoke Valley, built on momentum of its own this week by announcing its largest gift to date, a $40,000 contribution from Islamic Relief USA that will pay to help five families out of homelessness.

The decision by Islamic Relief to donate to the campaign was easy because of both the coalition United Way assembled for the project and the city’s success at effectively ending veteran homelessness, said Naeem Muhammad, the group’s U.S. program manager.

‘They have a track record of success,’ Muhammad added.”
