BURBANK, California (September 13, 2005) – Southern California Muslim donors
have come together to fill a 40-foot truck full of in-kind aid for victims of
Hurricane Katrina.
In the past week, clothes, canned food, bottled water, toys, and other
emergency essentials have been collected by local aid group Islamic Relief.
Islamic Relief is assisting displaced citizens of Hurricane Katrina in Houston,
TX, Baton Rouge, LA, and the Gulf Coast of Mississippi.
The truck will be leaving Los Angeles for Biloxi, Mississippi, where Islamic
Relief staff and volunteers are on the ground implementing several projects to
help the affected population.
Islamic Relief representative Ahmed Shama will be available to the media for
comments and interviews regarding the volunteer effort by the Southern
California community to collect and sort the donations, as well as Islamic
Relief’s projects to help Katrina victims.

and the 105 Freeway. The warehouse is a red brick building located at the
corner of Avalon Ave and 62nd St.
