Muslim council helps those facing water shutoffs - IRUSA

The Royal Oak-based Michigan Muslim Community Council and Islamic Relief USA donated $100,000 donation Wednesday, Jan. 7 to help prevent water shutoffs for Detroiters.

The Muslim community, including many from Oakland County, provided the support to Detroit residents facing hardship from water shutoffs. The council was joined in partnership with Islamic Relief USA –– the largest Muslim charity in the U.S.

“We are hoping this is going to be contagious,” said Anwar Khan, CEO with Islamic Relief USA.
