“Every Saturday, other groups of various volunteers join us in our efforts,” said Herbert, noting she plans to continue in the Flint relief effort through Tuesday.
Volunteers from a local Islamic relief group helped the Red Cross volunteers knock on more than 7,000 doors, delivering vital bottled water and other supplies on Jan. 23.
“Everyone we bring water to is so grateful,” Herbert said. “They are so appreciative and thankful, and I can tell you one thing: I’ll never throw away a half a bottle of water again. I’ll never take it for granted.”
