Two international relief organizations also had booths at the festival: Islamic Relief and Helping Hand. Both have operations around the world, engaged in micro-financing, disaster relief, orphan sponsorship, healthcare and education.
Islamic Relief has programs in the United States and 40 other countries, helping regardless of faith. Its disaster assistance response team (DART) has responded to the hurricane in the Philippines and the earthquake in Nepal, and that aid is ongoing. It also has micro-financing to help people, many of them women, to start their own businesses and become self-reliant. Islamic Relief was founded in the United Kingdom but has been in the United States for two decades, according to people at the booth.
