The following is an excerpt from an article posted in the KSHB in Aug 2017:
“KANSAS CITY, MO. – The faith community in Kansas City is coming to the rescue of flood victims, sending food, clothing and some volunteers.
The Missouri Southern Baptist Convention is sending volunteers and three vans — one to cook meals, another to allow flood victims to take showers and one with laundry machines.
The Jewish Community Federation of Greater Kansas City changed the picture on its homepage showing flooded streets in Houston. They also added a link for donations. In the first two hours, they raised $2,000.
The Catholic Diocese of Greater Kansas City/St. Joseph is also sending money. For the next two weeks, the Diocese is asking every parish to have a special offering for flood-victims. Catholic Charities in Houston and Louisiana will use the money to provide clothing and shelter.
