The harsh backlash from the dictatorial regime in Libya to the desire of his people for freedom and justice has led to thousands of brutal deaths and injuries in the last two weeks.
According to the Libyan Human Rights League, more than 6,000 have been killed in the attacks by Gaddafi’s regime in such a short span of time. Additionally, much of the Libyan population is also cut off from adequate access to phone services, medical supplies, food, and shelter, the people of Libya are in great need of medical and humanitarian aid immediately.
As many Libyans flee to neighboring Tunisia and Egypt, they put great strain on the resources of these countries and also require assistance. “There are increasing numbers of brave Libyan citizens who are living in dire circumstances and it is our duty and obligation at this time to provide them with food, water, and much needed medical supplies,” said ISNA Secretary General Safaa Zarzour.
