The Huffington Post reported on more than 2,000 volunteers from the New York City area who packaged more than half a million meals for the poor on Sept. 11. The volunteers included Muslims, Catholics, Jews, Hindus, Sikhs, Protestants, Buddhists, atheists, blacks, whites, Asians, Hispanics, and others from so many different backgrounds — all coming together to help their neighbors who struggle to feed themselves and their families. The article goes on to ask if it’s possible to recapture the same spirit of unity we shared after Sept. 11, 2001.
