BURBANK, California (April 21, 2005) – The Muslim Students Association at the
University of Houston along with Burbank, CA based charity Islamic Relief USA
will be holding a fund-raising dinner this Sunday to benefit “Children in Need”
around the world. The benefit dinner will feature a special performance by the
Muslim musical group, Native Deen, who just released their latest album.
This fund-raising event is one of many in a series of events across the
country that Islamic Relief USA is holding to bring awareness to the plight of
children. Islamic Relief representative Anwar Khan will be making a
presentation about its relief and development projects to help needy children
in different countries.
UNICEF statistics show that out of 100 children, 26 will go unimmunized
against childhood diseases, 30 will suffer from malnutrition in their first five
years, and 17 will never go to school.
