BURBANK, California (October 14, 2005) – The Islamic Center of Pittsburg will
be holding an emergency fundraiser for victims of the devastating earthquake
in South Asia.
The emergency dinner will take place this Sunday, October 16. Islamic Relief,
an international relief and development organization which is carrying out
emergency relief projects for earthquake victims will be collecting funds at
the event.
Islamic Relief representative Yousef Abdallah will be at the event for
comments or interviews with media professionals.

Islamic Relief has been working in Pakistan since 1992, and has a full-time
staff of over 100 in the country. Islamic Relief has three full-time offices near
the earthquake-affected areas in Islamabad, Neelum Valley, and
Muzaffarabad.
The death toll for Saturday’s devastating earthquake in South Asia has
reached over 40,000, and could still rise further.
Islamic Relief has launched a worldwide $10 million appeal for earthquake
victims, of which $4 million has already been allocated.
