“‘Day of Dignity’ Event Helps Homeless Community”The following is an excerpt from an article posted in the LEX18.com in Oct 2017:
“LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18)– Hot meals, hair cuts and health service were just some of the resources Lexington’s homeless community was able to utilize during the city’s first “Day of Dignity.”
The services were provided by Share Center and Islamic Relief USA.
Volunteers took the day to help some of Lexington’s most vulnerable citizens, hoping the event served as a show of support to the homeless community.
“One of the greatest things about this event is that the Muslim community here in Lexington…such a small minority has rallied together and has donated and given and offered so much of their time and resources together behind this event,” said Ratul Ahmed, the Day of Dignity City Coordinator.
Organizers say around 400 to 500 homeless and underprivileged were served on Saturday.
Islamic Relief USA plans to make this an annual event. ”
