Uganda remains a country working to balance its ongoing structural problems with the heavy influx of refugees it has experienced within the last several years. Due to political strife and overwhelming violence, over one million refugees have entered Uganda seeking asylum. More than 80% of those who have entered were fleeing the situation in South Sudan.

Currently there are 1.6 million people living with acute food insecurity, which has added pressure to an already struggling population. Another 9.3 million people have been recorded as living in a stressed food situation. Islamic Relief USA has partnered to provide meat to 14,400 participants as part of the annual Qurbani distribution.

Please note: Donations made toward IRUSA’s Uganda fund may be used to support important emergency or long-term work across the country, or for Ugandan refugees in other countries.
