What would you do if you knew a simple gift of clean water could save an entire family?

Meet Nikale. She’s spent many days walking long distances just to find safe, clean water to drink. For Nikale, lack of clean water has dealt a devastating blow to her and her family. She’s lost six of her children to waterborne diseases. One day, when she went in search of clean water, she returned to find two more of her children dead.

In Mali, 73% of the population lives on less than $1 per day. Mali is one of the poorest countries in the world. With 65% of the country being barren desert or semi-desert, water is precious and extremely scarce. Food security is often threatened by droughts, although 85% of Malians rely on the land for their livelihood.

Drought and consequent famine have destroyed Nikale’s family. We cannot imagine the suffering that she and her children have endured because of lack of water, and we cannot ignore this. Can you?
