In late November 2014, heavy storms caused devastating floods that swept through Morocco. Areas including Guelmin, Agadir and Ourrzazate, as well as tourist hub Marrakesh were hit hard.
Reports were that at least 100 homes were destroyed. 100 roads, including six major highways, were impassable.
While Morocco had experienced major flooding in the past, eyewitnesses said that this was the worst they saw in decades.
Local Mustapha al Gemrani told one reporter, “We haven’t seen anything like this since 1986 … people were very scared.”
