Giving Tuesday for Palestine
On GivingTuesday – November 28, 2023 – the whole world comes together to give back in many different ways: through acts of kindness, gifts of voice, time, talent, or treasure. This year we've dedicated #GivingTuesday to Palestine.
Deadly Escalation in Palestine
It's been 53 days of pain, destruction, and devastation. 1.7 million people – almost 80% of the population – are displaced from their homes and have moved into half of the Gaza Strip. More than 900,000 people are sheltering in UNRWA installations.
While there are many obstacles that can delay the distribution of aid, our staff and partners are working diligently to ensure that aid can be delivered safely to our Palestinian brothers and sisters who need our help. Currently, our work is being distributed through partners within Gaza, and we have more aid at the border awaiting entry.
While issues related to the delivery of humanitarian aid persist, IRUSA partners have successfully completed the following interventions so far:
🍞 7,078 fresh and shelf-stable food parcels have been distributed to 40,345 internally displaced people. The fresh food was sourced directly from 45 local farmers.
🧼 2,800+ family hygiene and dignity kits have been distributed.
🚑 13,500 individuals have been served by our mobile medical teams, 60% of whom were children, as well as 283 pregnant women.
🏥 The approximately $120,000 worth of life-saving pharmaceuticals and medical supplies procured for three Gaza hospitals since Oct. 7 have helped these hospitals provide medical care to thousands of patients.
❤️🩹 As of Nov. 17, the mobile medical teams have provided mental health and psychosocial support activities to 18,000 children.
Your donations have driven this effort; the people of Palestine are relying on your continued generosity, so please give what you can this #GivingTuesday.
