The United Nations placed Benin 166 of 188 countries in 2015 in terms of having a long and healthy life, access to knowledge and a decent standard of living.

Between 1980 and 2012, according to the United Nations, Benin’s life expectancy at birth increased by 11 years, and the length of time children remain in school increased significantly. The average adult has not completed elementary school, but children entering school today are expected to achieve a high school education. Poverty remains widespread.

Islamic Relief is working in Benin to help provide opportunities for education.
