For many families, winter months are harsh. In early 2014, IRUSA carried out a winterization project in five provinces in Afghanistan that benefited over 21,200 people. This project combated the harsh winter months by providing these families with charcoal fuel and food packs. The food packs included wheat flour, oil, sugar, rice, and beans. The families served were internally displaced and poor families, many with young children and disabled or elderly family members.
